Good News

Today I was elected Co-President of UNL's Amnesty International organization. I'm very happy to be such an integral part of the group I've worked with and enjoyed being a part of over the last 2 years. It's a great cause and a great group of people. We have a lot of work to do, but it will be a great year. Lots of really great stuff to get done and great people to meet and help.

Oh, Huskers won 10-0 (i think) today. Yankees lost. Heh. Atlanta plays on the 8th.

Go Huskers!.. sort of... GO BASEBALL!

Went to the first game of the doubleheader on Sunday afternoon and experienced some of the strangest baseball weather ever. It seemed like we had three seasons all in one. It started off sort of sunny, sort of overcast, then drizzled for a while, then stopped, then the sun came out and it was hot, then it fell back behind the clouds again, then it... *sigh* well, at least it was a good game. Kinda. It was 12-9, Kansas won (we took the series, though... beat 'em 13-3 in the 2nd game). Most of the game Kansas had 12 runs, and we were coming back... but to no avail.

OH but there was an AWESOME home run! John Grose (the catcher, of course) just pummeled one over the left field fence. I mean it was a shot. We all knew it was gone the second he hit it. Sweetness.

I love baseball. I've decided this. I love football, too, but right now baseball is occupying my mind. I can't wait for opening day to come so I can root root root for Atla-a-a-anta. And I'm totally going to a bunch more Husker games, then a buncha Pawsox games (with my lovely lady, and friends and maybe Taz) over the summer. Man, this game has brought me so many great memories. I love it.

Baseball 'n Stuff

Man, it's been a long time since I've updated here (it seems like the past few postings have started like that, huh?). Anyway, I'm pumped because I'm going to the first (2) baseball game(s) of the year tomorrow. I haven't gone to a baseball game in probably 2 years, but the Huskers have a double-header vs. Kansas tomorrow. I get in free, and I could use a good, old fashioned ball game. I can already taste the hotdog and soda, maybe even nachos... mmmm.... nachos... anyway, it should be a good time. I'm excited! GO BIG RED!

My last column drew some good feedback from both sides of the issue. I love that. I want people to talk about issues. That's probably the biggest gratification I get from writing this column. I love it when people debate on the message boards n stuff. Oh man so cool.

Anyway, I need a nap. I think I'm going to post on here tomorrow. Yes. yes I will. Hopefully I'll be back in the swing of this deal soon enough. Alright here I go.

Updates and News and The Like

Wow, it's certainly been a while since I posted. That's bad. I need to post more. Just because I like to. And there might even be a slim chance that someone enjoys reading these things. Maybe that someone is YOU... *dun dun dunnnnnn*

I'm pumped for this weekend. A friend of mine, we'll call him Justin S. (no, wait, that's too obvious... let's say J. Shilad) will be chillin like a villian in good ol' Lincoln. He's spending half of his Spring Break here. He lands Friday, which is cool, cuz that'll be the end of the week. A very, very welcome end of the week.

Speaking of Spring Break, mine is the week after next. Yep, taht means that in about ten days I'll be home and back with the homies. Home... homies... sweet. Lookout Rhode Island, 'cuz this year, I'm spending St. Patricks Day THERE!!!

Oh, and as far as my columns go, this weeks is a juicy one. The one-year-anniversary of the US-led attack on Iraq is coming up on March 20, and this column is a reflection on that. I'm pretty excited. It's a good piece... probably one of my better ones. In any case, it's running on Friday this week. Due to the large number of guest columns and letters to the editor (there were actually two opinion pages on Mon and Tues), my day was pushed back. That might be a good thing... I've sent mydraft to my editor, and she was talking about cutting some people from this week anyway. Mine didn't get cut. Maybe that means she likes it.

In any case, it's time to edit a final copy of a short story I'm writing. It's due tomorrow in my Writing of Fiction class. I'll let you know how it comes out.

I'll rap at ya tomorrow. I've been writing alot, and using it for activism, so I'll update y'all on that (might have an Op-Ed in the Lincoln Journal Star coming up).

Have a good night!
